Dear friends, it is very exciting to present this new entry in our blog ! Written by Louis Themanlys, one of Max Theon’s closest associates, it is a very simple exposition of the Cosmic tradition and a good follow up of all that we have published with Nalan. It is also a timely call for unity and synergy between all good will people so that we may join together in building a better, more just, HARMONIOUS society, exactly just like what Eckartshausen SAW and HERALDED here:
This post is also dedicated to brother Thanassis 🙂
The initiatic doctrine is one, in time and space, as of its essence, because it is an integral science. It is one, like arithmetic, geometry and mechanics are everywhere the same, being essential, universal, and impersonal. It is one, like arithmetic, geometry and mechanics, are one between them, continuously deducted from one another and matching one another. It is all the Science, spiritual-material. But the vocabulary by which it is presented, it’s nomenclature, the structure of the presentation vary necessarily with the Nations, epochs, and the instructors that all use the language of their surrounding.
However, one of these garments of the unique truth, one of these languages that manifest the initiatic truth, and reveal it, in re-veiling it, has been preserved- more than any other, in its integrality. It is accessible to us, more than any other, because the deep meaning of its vocabulary and of its symbols has been transmitted in the west by an un-breached initiatic chain of initiates and by their works. Finally, this garment is already close and hereditary to us, because it is the interior essence of the western religions: Judaism, Catholicism, Islamism and Protestantism, of which the books, the rites and the teachings have constituted the substance of our intellectual and spiritual culture.
The main center of these writings that enlighten us is the Egyptian and Chaldean tradition, to which are linked on one side, the books from Egypt, and on the other side, the books of Chaldea, and, in their synthesis mostly, because they are closer to us, the biblical books, old and new testaments, and also, daughter initiation of Egypt- the Greek initiation: Pythagoras, Plato and the Alexandrians.
The aim of this initiatic wisdom has always been and will always be the universal Harmony, based on the human Harmony, also established on the benevolent good will of one another, and on the efficient knowledge of one another’s needs, with the aim for their synergic satisfaction. This harmony is progressive, ascendant like humanity itself; like science, like the organization, like evolution, these infinite roads…
The traditional sources that we are relying on are then the great initiatic and orthodox religious books, that means from an upright fame (reputation), of a doctrine of balance in conformity to the unique seed of the all saving truth, which has guided, guide and will guide humanity in its becoming. Here is this seed, this kernel of the doctrine:
The manifestation was good, affirmation repeated in the first chapter of the Genesis: ‘And God saw it was good’.The manifestation is life. Life has to be protected and multiplied, magnified. The seven symbols of the alchemists are the seven intermediary achieving goals of this seed, infinite goals, that map the immutable directions of human progress. They come from the most remote past; They are the guiding golden words transmitted by the vanished civilizations; and we can show that, according to them, all septenary classification and all religious doctrines were synthetically and analytically built. They are the Ariane thread that, in the labyrinth of science, indicate constantly the right interpretation towards the highest light.
The Great Work: To form, build and act.
The Philosophical Stone: To refine, purify and perfect.
The Elixir of Long Life: To firm and maintain.
The Universal Medicine: To balance and heal.
The Fountain of Youth: To blossom and rejuvenate.
The Perpetual Movement: To individualize and immortalize.
The Squaring of the Circle: To Harmonize, orchestrate and unify.
The Egyptian-Chaldean garment has itself dressed, under the name of Kabbala, a very ancient and glorious synthetic form, the Tradition, ‘THAT which is received’; oral tradition, numerous, magnificent, completely unified and combined with the biblical texts. This tradition is a vastness. Nobody could systematize it in its whole in one work, even collective, however wide would it be. We will only state here just a few characteristic points of the doctrine, on which the student will build the structure of his knowledge., helped by the reading, the oral teaching, contemplation, experimentation, practice and spiritual service.
I. The Cosmos, the created world, Brahma’s egg, is coming from the Unthinkable that permeates it, surround it and penetrates it. Everything that is of the Cosmos, is thinkable, subject to science and classification. Everything from the Cosmos is both spiritual and substantial, strength and matter, because we cannot think a spirit without matter, and a matter without movement, thus without strength, that is without spirit. The Cosmos has been classified in four parts, four worlds:
– The world of the Emanation: Aziluth.
– The world of Creation: Briah.
– The world of Formation: Iezirah.
– The world of Action: Asiah.
And each if these worlds have been divided in seven zones.
II. Man’s constitution has also been classified in four degrees:
- The physical degree, the visible body and the different zones of its vegetative strength, temperament.
- The nervous degree, (nepesch) the passionate soul, character.
- The psychic degree, (ruah) the spiritual soul, the intellectual soul and the heart.
- The mental degree, (nechamah) the holy soul, the intellectual soul and knowledge.
Above these four degrees, other degrees, corresponding to the Cosmos’s zones, can exist or can be acquired, but they refer to a very rare and high evolution.
III. The worlds of the Cosmos and the beings that inhabit them are in relation with the forces that animates, perfect and classify them. These are the Ten Divine Attributes: From Ain Soph, the Unthinkable emanates:
1.Kether, the Crown, the first manifestation of being.
3. Binah, Intelligence.
These three first attributes are veiled.
4.Hesed, Mercy and Greatness.
5. Geburah, Severity.
6. Tipheret, Beauty, Life.
7.Neçah, Victory, Power.
8. Hod, Glory, Effectiveness.
9. Yesod, the Foundation, Sustentation.
10. Malchut, the Kingdom or Justice.
IV. In the ancient times, letters were used as numbers. The Hebrew letter, the number that it represents, the hieroglyph or sacred drawing it is the simplification of, all are connected with the same idea.
Zero represents the non-being, the Unthinkable.
One represents the first manifestation, being, the unconscious synthesis.
Two represents distinction, the relative and balance.
Three represents the conscious synthesis.
Four represents the two dualities, the square, the house, the world.
Five represents passivity and femininity
Six represents union, man.
Seven represents construction.
Eight represents two united squares , the full synergy between activity and passivity.
Nine represents formation.
Ten represents perfection of the manifestation of the 1.
In that sense, words have a mathematical meaning, algebraic beyond ordinary meaning, and the same with sentences, by that different meanings are superposed in the highest sacred texts.
V. Evil doesn’t exist ‘per se’, it is not a being, it is only the deprivation of good, the privation of divine : A dissonance, an unbalance, a waste, a bad relation un-sufficiently established or wrongfully. ‘Wrong comes from ignorance’, Plato. One will limit its expansion with the light of intelligence and love, in front of which it vanishes. But it belongs to man to manifest this light, so to diminish suffering, so to embellish the world, so to realize on earth the divine plan of harmonious happiness.
VI. Balance is the fundamental law that rules the activity of life. It is by her that unity is relentlessly maintained or restored in balance. Every action calls an equal reaction. Harmonious oscillations around the axis in Confucius’s teaching. Harmonious oppositions of opposites: Power and resistance. The middle line of the maximum good, the right of the individual limited by those of others and the collectivity. Masculine powers and feminine authority, discipline soften by freedom, severity by mercy, etc…Here is the foundation of morality and the society of goodness, beauty and of all civilizations.
VII. By the very law of Balance, the Cosmos is subject to a great breathing movement, the alternation of expansion and concentration, of essence and substance, of the intangible and the tangible. It is the Solve Coagula of the ancient Hermetic Tradition. Condensation and Sublimation. The condensation movement makes the spirit-matter spiral come down towards earth, this is involution. The sublimation makes the spirit-mater spiral go up towards the spirit, this is evolution. These two movement without cease are combined, explaining the shapes of development on earth and humanity in their mysterious depth.
VIII. Each zone of the Cosmos is inhabited by beings that are proper to it. Beings from one zone are capable of knowing other zones. The classification of spiritual beings has been the subject to many studies. And these are: Manifested attributes, angels and their hierarchy, the souls, the genies, the elementals, etc…All these beings are able to incarnate on earth.
IX. The analogy, or law of similitude, is one of the most fecund intellectual instruments and the more powerful that the seeker of knowledge is being empowered. It holds unshaken on Monism, or unity of the universal substance, hence the common ground to every thing, with diverse embroidery.‘ As above so below for the manifestation of the splendor of the Unique One.’, says the Emerald Tablet. The inferior worlds reflect the higher worlds. Therefore the analogy of the earth conceived as a terrestrial animal with humanity as its brain has allowed and will still allow the most magnificent understandings. Therefore, the analogy of the material fact of agriculture with the working of the spiritual apostolate, so many time expressed, like for instance: ‘ The harvest is big but there are few workers’ of the Gospel.
X. Man carries two lights: The inner and the ‘ambient’ called by Reichenbrach, the aura. This outer light is partly the expression of the inner one and varies with it. Those who can see the auras, their shapes, their luminosity, their color, their perfume, the shapes they themselves contain, read the properties of the inner being. It is the aura that puts being into relation. Hence a science of benevolent, indifferent or obnoxious auric reactions. He who want to prefect his aura must perfect his being.
XI. Man in order to get into relation with the world and perceive has other senses than his usual five senses, these are the spiritual senses or their synthesis. It is very rare that one doesn’t possess any, more or less embryonic, more or less usable. This relates to the spiritual gifts that Saint Paul recommend we perfect. We will quote here the hierarchical classification of these spiritual gifts, according to this great Instructor: ‘ And God has established in the Assembly, first the Apostles, secondly the prophets, thirdly the doctors, then the thaumaturges, then the healers, those who have the gift of saving, of governing, of speaking diverse languages.’ And this remark, which is an advice: ‘ And the spirits of the prophets are bound to the prophets’.
XII. The synthetic aim of all the Initiation as a teaching and as an action is to work towards the coming of the heavenly kingdom, on earth. This kingdom will then be the rule of God manifested in his harmonized ten attributes. Each of these attributes will work in his special aspect in union with the others for a maximum manifestation. And each of these attributes will work with the respective good will phalanges, grouped by affinity towards those attributes, Plato’s divine procession, being families, the constellations of the Kabbala. One law will prevail above the others: the law of Unity. Because, as it is said in the Gospel: ‘ All divided kingdom will perish’. The divine kingdom must not be divided, it must be ONE. Then Humanity will become the human community. And this unity will be obtained by Harmony, made of freedom and restraint, which itself will be obtained by love and knowledge.
This is why the first duty of the neophyte is to unite, in mind and action, in a harmonious group that is the reflection and the seed of the future unity. And the neophyte, like the initiate, will take care of the integrity of the fraternity to which they belong, on its purity, its progress, its growth, its union, because in truth union that insure unity is the beginning and the perfection of all authentic initiation.
