Elif was her name. Her evergreen dress was emphasizing the grace of her immortal stature. Her leaves swinging in the wind were whispering HIS name, spreading prayers far away. Despite her upright posture, she was always bowing her head. This state of being humble was symbolizing her surrender to God. She was ONE with HIM.
Her role was sacred. Giving protection under her skirts, she was carrying the souls of mankind, who left God to go on a journey and tried to remember himself on this terrestrial ground, to heaven. Thus, the souls didn’t get lost on earth, with her help they found their way back to HIM.
Elif was a cypress tree, guiding the liberated soul of mankind, who’s body returned to soil.

* Because of its straight posture the Cypress Tree is resembled with ‘Elif’ in Sufizm, which is the first letter of the word for God in Arabic, Allah, and been described as being symbolic of God’s uniqueness.
